This is the book about what happened to Lou after Sam lit up her world and then left her. She's stuck back in another rut, trying to deal with the loss of her love. The book is a very mundane look at parenting, being in a rut, loss of a love one. There wasn't really any plot aside from the forced twist of parenting.
I don't think this book was necessary at all. The first book ended perfectly, and we could imagine Louisa having a great ending with how Sam left her. This one was different. It felt a bit like JoJo Moyes trying to capitalize on the success of the first book. It's still an enjoyable read, as JoJo can write a book about nothing but it still be enjoyable. Lou's mom on her quest to discover feminism is interesting, Trenna struggling as a single mom, and Lily and her mess of issues.
4/5.
I think this is an enjoyable, but completely unnecessary book. It's a mundane book, with no real plot but Louisa is a good character that is easy to connect to. You just really want to see her happy.
Cheers,
Jen
