This book is just a fun read. It's a lighthearted, adventure romp that's a fun quick read. It follows Monty, Felicity and their friend Percy. Monty is the black sheep who sleeps around, drinks and gambles all the time. Felicity is the smart sister, who wants to be a doctor. Percy is Monty's best friend and his unrequited love. They are sent on a tour of the Continent, to provide some culture to Monty and hopefully get him in line. Felicity (much to her dismay), will be dropped off at finishing school and Percy is being dropped off at law school. It takes place on a ship and they travel to Paris, Sanitori, Marseilles, Venice and Barcelona. I'm jealous, because it seems like a beautiful trip and I love reading about sea faring voyages. Monty plans for it to be a trip full of sex, merriment and drinking. Monty's father puts Lockwood on the ship to keep Monty in line. It is essentially a trip of merriment and drinking, much to Lockwood's dismay. Monty steals something from a duke, and it leads to highwayman and pirates.

I thought it was funny, imagining these proper British men talking and going about their merry way. The writing was great and Monty was just the right amount of immature, self-centred and silly, while still being a likeable and rootable character. Him being a bit of a buffoon in the typical comedy worked. Felicity was far and away my favourite character though.

I hate the unrequited love trope usually, but it worked for me in this book. It wasn't overwhelming or annoying, it was just another part of the story.

4/5

This is just a fun, easy read. It's a good beach read or one to read just to break up other long books. It has diversity, with a bisexual main character and I feel like there's always a shortage of diverse reads. It's definitely one I underestimated my enjoyment of since it was just so fun.

Cheers,

Jen
