Genre: YA Mystery/Contemporary

This kind of seemed like fan fiction for a lot of mystery stories. You had a romance with the boy on the wrong side of the tracks, the brother was bi but had a thing with a girl in the book. Nothing was original about it and the characters weren't particularly compelling.

My biggest complaint was that I figured out who the killer was for all three murders in the first 20 pages. It was blatantly obvious and was just a let down honestly. There wasn't really anything original, enlightening or much about it. Maybe for the age group it was intended for it's perfect, but I found it to be hopelessly average. There's nothing wrong with picking a book and knowing what to expect for some people, it just wasn't what I was looking for at this time.

3/5

The writing is passable and I'd recommend it to someone who's a bit younger and hasn't really read many mysteries before. Aside from that, I can recommend a lot better mysteries. The writing is fine, it's just an average book.

Cheers,

Jen
